FAQ (frequently asked questions)

  • What insurance do you take?

While we gladly file any insurance to attempt to get you the best possible reimbursement, there are some carriers and dental plans that will only pay if you are treated by a provider that is "in network" with that carrier. That being said, the only "in-network" insurance carriers that we are currently providers for are DELTA Dental Premier, CIGNA PPO (not Advantage), Connection Dental, GEHA through CIGNA, AETNA PPO w PPOII network, Principal, Ameritas, Reliance, Reliance Standard, United Concordia Elite Plus, Always Care/ UNUM. Colonial Life, and Blue Cross of Michigan (Blue Dental PPO). However, these plans tend to change over time, so we may not be in network with them at the time that you read this. PLEASE call us AND your insurance provider to make sure that you have coverage and that we are in your network. Or if you don't mind paying the difference.

  • Do my kids needs sealants?

Yes, we typically place dental sealants on the chewing surfaces of all newly-erupted permanent molars and premolars. A dental sealant is a white, chemically-bonded coating that is flowed into the deep groves and crevices of the chewing surfaces of back teeth to fill in areas where food and debris can stick and potentially cause cavities. Dental sealants prevent most cavities that occur in newly erupting teeth from ever starting. We also place sealants on many adult's teeth if they have never had a filling on the tooth and do not wish to risk the chance of getting a cavity. Unfortunately, most dental insurance carriers will only pay for dental sealants on children under the age of 16.

  • Can you make my teeth white?

Yes we can. You just let us know how white that you want them. Most of the time we can get teeth pretty white through a process of bleaching (either in-office, at-home, or a combination of the two). Check out our webpage about Whitening/Bleaching.

When this doesn't get your teeth as white as you want, then you may need porcelain veneers or crowns to cover over your existing tooth color and make them as white as you would like. Check out our webpages on veneers as well as crowns for more information and photos.

  • Can you just knock me out to have dental work?

Yes, we can arrange for a team of licensed anesthesiologists from Nashville Office-Based Anesthesia (NOBA) to completely sedate you just like in the hospital here in our office so that you can sleep through any procedure and you won't remember a thing. You will have absolutely no worries about your dental care. Check out our webpage entitled Sedation Dentistry to get further information and to find a link to NOBA's website as well for even more details.

  • Are you taking new patients?

YES. YES. And YES! We are always happy to establish a new patient relationship. Let your friends, family, co-workers, and heck even complete strangers at the grocery store know that you have found the best dentist in Murfreesboro, TN. Send them a link to this website where they can fill out some contact details on the Contact page and we will give them a call. Or they can call us at 615-893-5500.

  • Do you have payment plans?

We presently do NOT have any "in-house" financing or payment plans. However, we do work with a healthcare financing company called CARECREDIT. They are basically a healthcare credit card. You can click on the link at the bottom of most of our web pages to go to their site where you can apply for financing and choose what terms you would like. Please read any and all fine print associated with any financing that you apply for.

  • How often should I get my teeth cleaned?

For most patients who are not experiencing the gum recession and bone loss from periodontal disease, we typically recommend that patients have their teeth professionally examined and cleaned every six months. For those with periodontal disease, with full-mouth traditional wire braces, and women who are pregnant, we typically treat those people every three or four months to keep their gums healthy and inflammation under control.

  • What is a root canal?

Root canal therapy, or endodontic treatment, is the removal of the diseased/infected tissue (dental pulp) from the middle of a tooth and then sealing up the inside of the tooth down through the roots so that the infection cannot return. Essentially it makes the tooth solid throughout. There is no longer any pain or temperature sensitivity felt inside the tooth. Once a tooth has had root canal therapy, in most cases a crown (also known as a cap) is needed afterwards.

  • Do you do braces?

While we do not use traditional metal wire braces, we do straighten teeth with clear aligner therapy (also known as Invisalign). Check it out under our services page. For those patients that need more than what aligner therapy can treat, we will gladly refer you to one of the best orthodontists in Murfreesboro, TN.

  • How long do caps last?

Caps, or dental crowns, are typically custom made to fit your tooth and are made from a strong material such as gold or ceramic. They are able to last an entire lifetime if properly made, fitted and maintained. Most dental insurance carriers will cover a new crown after five years.
