No one wants to be known as “metal mouth,” “brace face,” or “tinsel teeth.” But most of us would like straight teeth. Clear aligner therapy (also known as Invisalign) is the removeable answer to traditional fixed wire braces. The only requirement is wearing the trays 22 hours a day (Taken out to eat, drink, and brush). The average time to complete treatment is typically between six months to one year. Afterwards wearing trays (retainers) while you sleep to keep your new smile straight for life.
STRAIGHT TO THE POINT
It all starts with a thorough dental examination and digital dental x-rays assessed by Dr. Greg Nicholson at Family & Cosmetic Dentistry of Murfreesboro. Once it is determined that you are a good candidate for clear aligner therapy (aka Invisalign) you will have a digital scan “impression” made of your teeth using the latest high-tech dental intra-oral scanner. (No more trays full of goopy impression stuff to gag you!) These scanned images are sent off to the lab and typically in about two weeks, your custom-fitting clear aligners are given to you. We usually give you three at a time and you wear each aligner for two weeks before switching to the next one. A six week followup visit is made to assess tooth movements and adjust as needed. At the end of treatment, new aligner retainers are made and you wear those each night to keep teeth straight for a lifetime!
