LOSE SOMETHING?

we can FIX that!

Fixed Dental Bridges

When teeth are damaged or broken, typically crowns (aka “caps” are the recommended  repair method. If a tooth or several teeth are missing completely, however, a fixed (non-removeable) dental bridge may be your best option. Losing a single tooth, or multiple teeth, either from an injury or tooth decay can have a negative effect on one’s self-confidence. Tooth loss can also majorly affect one’s speech, or the ability to properly chew food, and can cause the surrounding teeth to shift out of alignment and then cause other future problems. A fixed dental bridge can resolve all of these issues. Simply put, a fixed dental bridge consists of a series of crowns (“caps”). A false tooth made typically out of a ceramic material is connected to adjacent crowns and fills in the place of the gap created by the missing tooth or teeth. The crowns then anchor the bridge to the teeth on either side of the gap. Fixed dental bridges look like natural teeth, are easy to care for, and serve as a permanent, fixed solution for restoring your smile.

FIXED DENTAL BRIDGES

We Bridge the Gap - Literally!

Family & Cosmetic Dentistry of Murfreesboro uses the latest technological advancements in restorative dentistry to produce comfortable fixed dental bridges that are virtually unbreakable. We have been using the dental restorative material zirconia (aka Bruxzir) for many years now on crowns and fixed bridgework. It looks and acts just like natural tooth structure, but is nearly impossible to break. As a full-service dental design studio, our family-friendly, patient-focused approach makes us the top choice for fixed dental bridges in Murfreesboro. During your initial dental examination and consultation, Dr. Greg Nicholson will talk through the options available to you, answer questions, and offer his professional recommendation. If you decide to move forward with a fixed dental bridge, we will schedule another office visit to perform the procedure. At the next appointment, you will be made comfortable with a local anesthetic to numb the area. Dr. Nicholson will re-shape the teeth on either side of the gap and then make a digital scan inside of your mouth to send the dental laboratory technicians a three-dimensional computerized image of your teeth. At that point he will then make a temporary bridge from a plastic-based material and insert it in your mouth. The temporary bonded bridge will protect your teeth until the final ceramic bridge can be manufactured by the dental lab technician. Your return visit will typically be one to two weeks later. This will entail removal of the temporary bridge, fitting and adjusting of the final bridge, and then comfortably permanently bonding it into place. You will be given proper hygiene instructions on how to properly care for both the temporary and final bridgework before going home.
