ALIGNER THERAPY

(aka Invisalign)

FULL TRANSPARENCY

No one wants to be called “metal mouth,” “brace face,” or “tinsel teeth.”  But most of us would like straighter teeth.  Clear aligner therapy (also known as Invisalign) is the removable answer to fixed traditional wire braces.  It only requires you to wear the clear aligner trays all day and night except for when you are eating or brushing your teeth (approximately 22 hours a day).  The average time to complete treatment is typically between six months to one year.  Afterward you only need to wear your clear aligner retainers while you sleep to keep your new smile straight for life.

It all starts with a thorough dental examination and digital dental x-rays assessed by Dr. Nicholson. Once it is determined that you are a good candidate for clear aligner therapy (aka Invisalign) you will have a digital “impression” made of your teeth by a high-tech digital intra-oral scanner. No more trays full of goopy stuff to gag you! These scanned images are sent off and in about two weeks your custom-made clear aligners are given to you. We typically give you three aligners at a time. You will wear each aligner for two weeks and then switch to the next. you will have a follow-up dental visit every six weeks to assess the correct movements are occurring and to adjust if necessary. Once completed, a new digital intra-oral scan will be made of your straight teeth so that your final clear aligner retainers can be made. The good thing about the final scans is that if you should lose or break your retainer, we can typically remake it without you having to come back in for a new scan as long as you have not had any changes to your teeth since the last scan.

HOME CARE FOR ALIGNERS

THIS IS US

As a full-service dental design studio, Cosmetic Dentistry of Murfreesboro also offers the following cosmetic services:

  • Teeth Whitening (aka Bleaching)

  • Crowns

  • Bonding

  • Porcelain Veneers

  • Dental Implants

Dr. Nicholson applies the same expertise and artistry when additional repairs are needed in the best interest of the patient’s health, like:

  • Tooth-colored fillings: Sometimes referred to as “composite” or “white” fillings, these are safe and durable when a cavity needs to be filled.

  • Clear Aligner Therapy also known by the trade name “Invisalign.” This is where clear removable trays are used to straighten your teeth without ugly wire braces.

  • Root Canals: Sometimes referred to as “endodontics,” root canals can save a tooth even when its soft interior (called the “pulp chamber”) becomes infected. Once we clean out what’s bothering your tooth, it will continue to function without the pain and sensitivity you were likely experiencing before the procedure.

  • Emergency care: Yes, call us. Yes, we will see you. Priority is given to regularly  scheduled patients.
