Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What insurance do you take?

While we will gladly file any insurance to attempt to get you the best possible reimbursement, there are some carriers and plans that will only pay if you are treated by a provider that is “in network” with that carrier. That being said, the only “in-network” insurance carriers that we are providers for are DELTA Dental Premier, CIGNA PPO (not advantage), GEHA through CIGNA, AETNA PPO w PPOII network, Principal, Ameritas, Reliance, Reliance Standard, United Concordia Elite Plus, Always Care/ UNUM, Colonial Life, and Blue Cross of Michigan (Blue Dental PPO). However, these plans tend to change over time so we may not be in network with them at the time that you read this.  Please call us AND your insurance provider to make sure that you have coverage and that we are in your network.

Are you taking new patients?

YES. YES. and YES. We are always happy to establish a new patient relationship. Let your friends, family, co-workers, and heck even complete strangers at the grocery store know that you have found the best dentist in Murfreesboro, TN.

Do you do braces?

While we do not perform traditional metal wire braces, we can straighten most teeth with clear aligner therapy (also known as Invisalign.)

Can you make my teeth white?

Yes we can. You just let us know how white you want them. Most of the time we can get teeth pretty white through a process of bleaching (either in-office, at-home, or a combination of the two.) When this doesn’t get your teeth as white as you want, then you may need porcelain veneers or crowns to cover up your existing tooth color and make them as white as you would like.

Can you just knock me out to have dental work?

Yes we can arrange for a team of licensed experts from Nashville Office-Based Anesthesia to completely sedate you just like in the hospital so that you don’t remember a thing and have absolutely no worries about your dental care.

How often should I get my teeth cleaned?

For most patients who are not experiencing the gum recession and bone loss from periodontal disease, we typically recommend that patients have their teeth professionally examined and cleaned every six months. For those with periodontal disease, with full-mouth traditional wire braces, and women who are pregnant, we typically treat those people every three or four months.

Do my kids need sealants?

Yes, we typically place sealants on the chewing surfaces of all newly-erupted molars and premolars. A sealant is a white coating that flows into the deep grooves of back teeth to fill in the areas where food debris can stick and potentially cause cavities. Sealants prevent most cavities from ever starting. We also do sealants on many adult’s teeth if they have never had a filling and do not wish to risk the chance of getting one. Unfortunately, most dental insurance carriers only pay for sealants on children under the age of 16.

What is a root canal?

Root canal therapy or endodontic treatment is the removal of diseased tissue from the middle of a tooth and then sealing up the inside of the tooth down through the roots so that the infection cannot return. Essentially it makes the tooth solid throughout. You no longer feel any pain or temperature sensitivity in the tooth. Once a tooth has had root canal therapy, in most cases a crown (also known as a cap) is needed.

How long do caps last?

Caps or crowns are typically custom made to fit your tooth and made from a strong material and are able to last an entire lifetime if properly made, fitted and maintained. Most dental insurance carriers will pay for a new crown after five years.

Do you have payment plans?

We presently do not have any “in-house” financing. However, we do work with Care Credit. You can go to their website by clicking the attached link.
