🎃 “The Night of the Decaying Tooth” — A Spooky Dental Tale from Family & Cosmetic Dentistry of Murfreesboro

October is here! The air is crisp, the leaves are turning, and the spooky season is upon us. But October is special for another reason, too: It's National Dental Hygiene Month! This year, let us tell you a tale... the terrifying, teeth-chattering saga of a young fellow named Charlie Chompers and his ghostly grin.

It was a crisp October evening in Murfreesboro. The moon was full, the pumpkins were glowing, and somewhere in the distance… a toothbrush screamed. Charlie Chompers was a candy-loving Murfreesboro local who’s teeth saw his toothbrush as often as a vampire sees his reflection in a mirror!  Little did Charlie know, this Halloween would change his life — and his teeth — forever. 😱

🍬 A Sticky Situation

It all started innocently enough. Charlie had just returned from a particularly bountiful night of trick-or-treating with his friends (or fiends?) They’d dumped their candy haul on the table — Count Chocolate’s Coffin bars, Gummy-Mummy worms, Chewy Caramel Cat’s Claws, and all with enough sugar to make a ghost turn white as a sheet.  “Just one piece,” Charlie said.  “Maybe three. Definitely not more than… twelve.”  As he munched away, something sinister began to stir deep within his molars. The plaque monsters were awakening. 🧟‍♂️That night, Charlie dreamed of his teeth as Zombies — whispering in ghostly voices they said: “Why have you forsaken us?” “You never floss anymore…” “You used to care about us, back when you met that cute girl in Math class last spring!” He woke up in a cold sweat — or maybe it was drool.   Either way, something was about to change.

🪥 The Attack of the Cavity Creatures

The next morning, Charlie felt it — a strange ache in his tooth.  It throbbed like the beat of a spooky witchdoctor voodoo soundtrack. He opened his mouth to yawn and swore he heard a sinister creak.  He rushed to the mirror.  His reflection looked back… and ghoulishly grinned.   Only, it wasn’t his usual grin — it was full of Cavity Creatures doing the monster mash on his molars! 🧛‍♀️ He even thought he heard his tooth say: "You’d better not be late for your dentist appointment, because it’s nearly Tooth-Hurty!"  Panicked, Charlie grabbed his toothbrush and shouted: “Not today,  you plaque poltergeists, you gum goblins!”  He scrubbed like his afterlife depended on it — two minutes, circular motion, fluoride toothpaste — the holy trinity of oral defense.  Then he flossed.  Oh, did he floss!   Like a horror movie maniac, he was KILLING IT!   When he rinsed and spit, the sink looked like a horror movie.  But he knew… he had won the battle.  He immediately also called Dr. Greg Nicholson at Family & Cosmetic Dentistry of Murfreesboro to confirm his next dental exam.
